Marketing

The management process through which goods and services move from concept to the customer. It includes the coordination of four elements called the 4 P's of marketing:

(1) identification, selection and development of a product,
(2) determination of its price,
(3) selection of a distribution channel to reach the customer's place, and
(4) development and implementation of a promotional strategy
MARKETING 101. SBA
Marketing is based on thinking about the business in terms of customer needs and their satisfaction. Building a Relationship between customer and company.

Marketing Defined: Marketing is a process that aligns the needs and wants of customers with desired products, goods, and services. Therefore, marketing is a solution-driven process that benefits both the customer and the business owner. While advertising is important, it is only a single component to the entire marketing process which includes: target market research, product pricing, customer and public relations, distribution, media and sales strategies, etc. Why is marketing important to your business?

Marketing differs from selling because "Selling concerns itself with the tricks and techniques of getting people to exchange their cash for your product. It is not concerned with the values that the exchange is all about. And it does not, as marketing invariably does, view the entire business process as consisting of a tightly integrated effort to discover, create, arouse and satisfy customer needs."  (Retired Harvard Professor of Marketing, Theodore C. Levitt)

In other words, marketing has less to do with getting customers to pay for your product as it does developing a demand, for that product and fulfilling the customer's needs.

Sales

Sales refers to the short term need to close a sale, get an agreement signed, or ultimately do what needs to be done to sell whatever it is you are selling. Sales techniques and strategies are really based on what it takes to ‘close the deal’, which is crucial to any business. If you get customers in the door but cannot get them to buy a product, there is a problem with your sales strategy.

Sales strategies are focused on the individual buyer and what needs to be done for them to pull out their wallet, or click on the buy button when it comes to online selling. Companies typically set sales volume targets for a period (weeks, months, and quarters) and have strategies in place where the individuals responsible for actually selling can make those targets.

Digital Marketing

The use of technology has changed the landscape of sales and marketing. In addition to traditional methods, there are now the platforms of Websites, Emails, Social Media, Blogs and much more. This dynamic force has the advantage of being flexible, cost effective and hits a larger demographic population.

Stratergies

Just like a good Business Plan, a detailed Marketing plan is also necessary to release a campaign that is effective and cost efficient. The ability to measure the results and build on the data collected for future growth is critical in today's competitive market.

Traditional Marketing

The fundamentals of marketing mean that the traditional methods of reaching customers, particularly Local, must always be considered in any strategy.  TV, Radio, Print, Billboards, Mailers, Phone, Door to Door, P..R, are some of the many effective marketing channels.

Data Management

Even in the old days, businesses kept ledgers, books and secrets with valuable information that proved successful or not.
Today, Data collection techniques are sophisticated enough to provide extremely valuable information about everything from customer behavior to trends. Understanding, and implementing this data into the Business is Crucial!

Customer service is not a department, it is a Philosophy.

Picture
Customer service today is not about telling people how great you are and giving figures to prove it. It’s about creating memorable experiences that do the talking for you.
All you need to remember is to:
  • Take your time
  • Connect with the customer
  • Do more than they would expect

Internal and External Customers. Customers come in all shapes and sizes. They come from all parts of the world and most importantly they demand satisfaction. When we talk about demand, It's also what drives supply and demand in Business.
A customer needs are met when they have been served with respect and dignity, at a price that is comparable and with the goods or service they need, want or desire.
Even your employees can be considered "customers". In a great company the customer service is a philosophy that runs deep in everything they do, and who they do it for. Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Providing great customer service does not have to cost you the Earth either. Out of all the examples provided only one gift card was given. In fact, some companies who have excelled in customer service have even managed to remove their advertising departments entirely.

What Your Customers Want You to Know About Them!

When you also consider 85% of clients would actually be willing to pay up to 25% more to get better service.
Why would you be doing anything else?
